Salt Springs Recreation Area

In the northern part of the Ocala National Forest, Salt Springs Recreation Area is considered one of the national forest's jewels. The area offers a lush, semi-tropical environment and a natural spring. The presence of potassium, magnesium and sodium salts give the waters in the spring a slight salinity. Hence the name Salt Springs.

The regulations of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission for freshwater fishing and boating apply along Salt Springs Run. Fishing and boating are NOT permitted in the swimming area.

Canoe rentals are available at the Salt Springs Marina.

Water fountains and flush toilets are available.
